My name is Mike Cockrell, I know Linda from the Dallas ARC. The first time I saw her I was new in the Lord. She and Oscar had come to Dallas on a Sunday during Majors Roy and Judy Ward's tenure.
She stood up to sing her first song, gave her name told us about her trials and tribulations she had to deal with as a child. She was so open and honest in her approach, but this is what stuck out to me. When she spoke about this there was no bitterness present in her demeaner, all that was there was the love she had for the Lord. You could tell that resentment was not there, but His presence was felt.
She started singing and you didn't sit there like a lump, she had you claping your hands, then singing chorus with her, and before the song had ended your were on your feet, clapping and singing unto the Lord. the she would sing another or two or three and she prepared you for the sermon Oscar was about to deliver.
You could tell they had done this before and had had great success at the ARC's because by the time Oscar was done with you, you had tears in your eyes and were down at the mercy seat being prayed over, being prayed for and let know your were a part of a family of believers. You wre now loved without conditions.
Linda taught me how to forgive not just those that had hurt me but to forgive myself so that the root of bitterness did not take hold.
God bless you Linda and you too Oscar (aka The Truck Driver)
